Grace Rugh Obituary

Grace M. Rugh, 84, of Smithfield, Pa. went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.  Grace was born in Bueyeros, New Mexico to Pablo C. Garcia and Manuelita Garcia on April 16, 1934.  Grace leaves behind her loving husband of 33 years, Richard “Dick” Rugh and a large family including six sons, George “Butch” Martin (wife Terry), James R Martin Jr, Robert Scott Martin, David Lee Martin, Michael G Martin (wife Sherri), Patrick J Martin (wife Kristin) ; three daughters Jackie Martin-Hernley (husband Roger), Penny Miller (husband Paul) and Michele Martin Tipton; she was also predeceased by her first husband James R. Martin, Sr.; seventeen grandchildren Regina Martin, Blaine Martin (wife Brandy), Thomas Bloom (wife Wendy), Matthew Bloom, Brandy Martin, Sylvia Switch, Nicole Burwell, David Martin Jr, Emily Miller, Isaac Martin,  Michael A Martin, Zachary King, Rachel Miller, Christopher Martin, Kimberly King, Patrick King, Samantha Grace Martin and fourteen great-grandchildren and predeceased by two great grandchildren.  Also survived by the following stepchildren, Dick Rugh Jr. (wife Lori), Luann Berkshire (husband Tom), Linda Yuhaniak (husband Mark) and Lana Hornyak (husband Greg);  nine step-grandchildren Dickie Rugh III (fiance’ Paige), Julie Rugh, Brandon Berkshire, Corey Rugh (wife Rachael), Breanna Gillis (husband Jeff), Kayla McBride, Marinda Yuhaniak,  Trevor Yuhaniak, Greylyn Hornyak and predeceased by Justin Rugh Berkshire and four step-greatgrandchildren.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Alex, Seth, Felix, Napoleon, Joseph, Anthony and a sister Marie. Surviving siblings include Lynn Alarid (deceased George), Irene (husband Robert Hahn) and Pablo Garcia Jr.  (deceased Ada). She also is survived by her longtime and very dear friend of 52 years, Janet Sisson. 

 

Grace and Dick enjoyed traveling around the country.  Her greatest joy was to stop to visit her many nieces, nephews, cousins that stretched from one end of the country to the other.  Another passion of hers was volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul for many years. Most of all she especially enjoyed being with her family. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church in Fairchance.

  

The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 13, 2019 until 10:00 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be held. The Funeral Mass follows at 10:30 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa. with Rev. Fr. Gade Show Reddy as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul of Uniontown, PA.
