Hedy Elizabeth (Lechner) Voithofer

It is with great sadness that the Family of Hedy Elizabeth (Lechner) Voithofer, announces her passing on June 1, 2018 at the very young age of 96. Hedy was born on January 29, 1922 in Masontown, PA. Hedy was 1 of 8 children born to Stephan Lechner and Theresia Voithofer from Krimml and Bramberg Austria.  Her family purchased a farm in Smithfield, PA during the depression.

Hedy married Matthew John Voithofer, Jr. on January 5, 1942. They lived in Smithfield, PA.  Matt died on April 14, 1999 at the age of 82.  Matthew was a decorated WWII Veteran.

Hedy is Loved and will Forever be remembered by her (5) children: Gloria June (Voithofer) & Arnold Burchianti of Smithfield, PA; Matthew John & Karen (Cerny) Voithofer III of Carmichaels, PA; Jerry Ray & Jody (Hall) Voithofer of Smithfield, PA; Terry Ray & Kathryn (Kujda) Voithofer of The Villages, FL; and David Scott Voithofer of Moundsville, WV. Hedy was blessed with 11 Grandchildren: Ashlee (Burchianti) & Burris Esplen of Churchill, PA, Arnie & Leslie Burchianti  of Mars, PA, Hedy E Esplen of Penn Hills, PA, and Michael & Meghan Burchianti of Kennebunkport, ME, Matthew & Heather Voithofer IV of Hollywood, MD; Jason &  Pamela (Bogucki) Voithofer of Carmichaels, PA, Justin & Kristin Voithofer, of Carmichaels, PA, Jerry Voithofer, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, Christy (Voithofer) & Jonathan Pleban of McClellandtown, PA, Heather (Voithofer) & Chris Susini of Wexford, PA, and Sean Voithofer of Denver, CO,  and (20) Great Grandchildren. And Hedy’s furry friend, Annie, from Wetzel County Animal Shelter of New Martinsville, WV.

The Family would like to extend a special Thank You and Appreciation for all the professional healthcare services to Arnie Burchianti, Celtic Healthcare, Inc., Mars, PA, and all Staff members who cared for Hedy. And Mary Jo & Buster Haragos and Staff at Haragos Personal Care Services, Uniontown, PA. The Family will not forget You.

A visitation will take place at Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 W. Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436 on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Prayers of Transfer will be said on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. Hedy’s Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM, SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 50 N. Morgantown St, Fairchance, PA 15436.  Her remains will be laid to rest beside her husband at Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Fairchance, PA.
