James E. Shipp, Smithfield, Pa.
James E. Shipp, 88, a longtime resident of Smithfield, Pa. passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at Sundale Nursing Home, Morgantown, W.Va. on Thursday, May 24, 2018.
He was born June 22, 1929 in Cheat Neck, W.Va. the son of James Arlie Shipp and Olive Spacht Shipp.
Preceding him in death were his parents; loving wife of 65 years, Angeline Frances (Sabarese) Shipp and three sisters, Thelma Shipp, Alberta Bodkin and Viola Moon.
Surviving are his children, James and Rose Shipp, Point Marion, Pa., Edward and Kimberly Shipp, Smithfield, Pa. and Michael and Tina Shipp, Fairchance, Pa.; grandchildren, Kelly and Johnny Crislip, Brian and Kristen Shipp, Kristen Shipp, Kaitlyn Shipp, Ashley Shipp and Marissa Shipp; great grandchildren, Tyler and Gavin Uphold and Joey, Ethan and Caleb Shipp; sister, Emily Hegedis, Lake Lynn, Pa. and nieces and nephews.
James served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for many years as a coal miner until his retirement from Duquesne Light Warwick Mine.
The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Service begins at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Chuck McLaughlin officiating.
Interment will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Cheat Lake, W.Va. with Military Rites being accorded by the Point Marion Veterans Posts Military Honor Guard.
