Albert "Butch" Chipps

Albert Theodore "Butch" Chipps, 75, of Lake Lynn, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Living most of his life where he was born and raised in Smithfield, Pennsylvania, he was considered a man of deep faith, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, Butch leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A 1969 graduate of Fairchance-Georges High School, Butch was the founder of CRS Services, formally known as Chipps Supply, a business built on the values of honesty, integrity, and dedication. Throughout his life, he was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his kind heart, generous spirit, and genuine concern for others. He never met a stranger and considered many of his friends to be family.

On January 12, 1970, Butch married his high school sweetheart, Betty Gail (Summers) Chipps. Together they shared more than five decades of love, commitment, and treasured memories.

In addition to leaving behind his beloved wife, Betty.  He is survived by his mother Grace Chipps; his daughters, Tammy McLaughlin and husband Chuck, and Chrissy Brewer and husband Matt. He was a proud grandfather to Craig Ashenfelter and wife Brandi, C.J. McLaughlin and wife Lexie, Colten McLaughlin, Matthew Brewer, Camden McLaughlin, Mitchell Brewer, and Caylee McLaughlin.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Maddie, Morgan, Braelyn, Walker, Arizona, Seamus, Finnigan, Cashel, and Ashlyn; his brother-in-law, Bill Summers and wife Melinda; nieces Amanda Guthrie and husband Tim, and Holly Inks and husband Dane; as well as many extended family members and dear friends whom he loved deeply.

Butch was preceded in death by his dad, Alfred “Buck” McClanahan; his grandparents, including his special grandfather, Jesse Chipps, who helped raise him; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie and Velva Summers; his special aunt, Leona Myers; his grandson, Connor Will McLaughlin; and his great-granddaughter, Riona Jane McLaughlin.

Those who knew Butch will remember his steadfast faith, his love for family, and his ability to make others feel welcome and valued. His life was a testament to loyalty, friendship, and service to others. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the lives he touched will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Butch attended the Gans Community Church.

The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. the hour of service with Pastor Chuck McLaughlin and Pastor Martie Cain officiating.

Interment will follow in Zion-Fletcher Cemetery, Cheat Lake, West Virginia.
