Anthony M. Stajcar, Uniontown, Pa.

     Anthony M. Stajcar, 76 of Uniontown, Pa. passed away in his home on Saturday, January 27, 2024.  Anthony “Tony”, was a second generation immigrant child with parents, Lawrence (Louvro) George Stajcar and Amelia Mallick Stajcar. He was born in Tower Hill # 2, raised in Republic, Pa. and graduated in 1965 from Redstone Senior High School. He entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in November of 1965 until November of 1968. He was trained in telecommunications and cryptography and served with the U.S. Strategic Communications Command (Stratcom) as a Communication Center Supervisor at a major (undisclosed) relay station. He was promoted to E-6 in less than two years and had an affinity for boxing.

     He returned to the U.S. after his father became ill and decided to further his education and studied electrical engineering. After Approximately 13 years working as a coal miner, he embarked on a journey with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Pittsburgh District which lasted until he was 62 years old. Before retirement, he had been promoted to the Chief Diesel and Electronic Engineer.

     It was the Summer of 1969, when he met the love of his life, Martha “Tootsie,” Jane Everly. He was the father of two daughters, Melissa Antoinette Silbaugh (David) and Amanda Michelle Foster (Shawn). He is survived by his wife, daughters and grandchildren, Cameron and Brooke Silbaugh, Alexandra “Cricket,” Foster and a nephew, Mark Stajcar of Berea, Ohio. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Michael Stajcar and his partner in crime, Lawrence Stajcar Jr.

     In leisure, Tony was an avid hunter, fly fisherman and musician. His favorite places were Dunbar, Laurel Hill Creeks and Quebec Run. He enjoyed classic cars (he loved his Ford Torino 428 Cobra Jet), aeronautics, computers, and playing his electric and acoustic guitars. Additionally, he found delight in spending time with his grandchildren, Calico-cat (Callie), Croatian picnics at Cokeburg, and had loved traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

     Viewing will be held in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Home Blessing Service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. with Military Rites being accorded by General Marshall Amvets Post 103 Honor Guard.

     In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to: Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warriors or Fayette Friends of Animals.
