Anthony "Bo" Karwatske, Jr.

Anthony "Bo" Karwatske, Jr., 79, of Uniontown, Pa. passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 23, 1947, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Anthony Karwatske, Sr. and Helen Sabo Karwatske.

Bo grew up in Messmore, where he developed the values of faith, and family that guided him throughout his life. 

A proud American, Bo honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. His courage and sacrifice reflected the strength, resilience, and quiet determination that defined his life.

Bo was a member of Woodbridge Church, the Hopwood AMVETS and the VFW. He was known for his generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether lending a hand, offering advice, or simply being there when someone needed him, Bo never hesitated to put others before himself.

He had a lifelong passion for automobiles and racing. From an early age Bo loved driving and driving a little faster than he should. He would tell many stories of mischief while growing up and they always involved cars. He spent countless weekends at various race tracks in Pennsylvania and West Virginia watching, helping and eventually driving. Bo was a fan of Nascar and enjoyed the annual trip to Dover Downs International Speedway with the boys and Christopher and Hunter. 

In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Myrtle Spaw; father-in-law, Carlos Spaw; sister-in-law, Sally Decker; brother-in-law, Phillip Cecchini; and brother-in-law, Charles Kozub.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Charlotte; his children, Anthony Karwatske III, Timothy (Katie) Karwatske, Theodore (April) Karwatske, and Thomas Karwatske; his beloved grandchildren, Hannah Karwatske, Alex Karwatske, Casey Beau Karwatske, Victoria (Levi) Kuykendall, and Mariah (John) Stemple; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Austin Kuykendall, Matthew Dulik, and Baby Stemple.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Cecchini (Phil-deceased), Helen (Chuck) Smith, and Cindy (Bob) Belch; his brother in law, Marvin Decker; nieces and nephews, Mia (Jim) Shaffer, Phillip (Tammy) Cecchini, Chuck (Stephanie) Smith, Michael Melvin, Shelly Kozub, Charles Kozub Jr., and Amy (Jeff) Dillinger; along with his dear friends, Neal, Stanley, and cousin Michael.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Heidi for helping with Bo during his final hours. 

Bo's greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply. His strength, generosity, faith, and example of selfless service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, July 20th, 2026 from 11:00a.m.  to 12:00 Noon.  The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa. with Military Rites being accorded by General Marshall Amvets Post 103 Honor Guard.
