Arlene Sochko, Uniontown, Pa.
Arlene Bernice Varva Sochko, 89 of Uniontown, Pa. was called home to the Lord on October 23, 2025, while resting peacefully at home.
Born on October 3, 1936 in Uniontown, Pa., Arlene was a graduate of Georges Township High School.
Mrs. Sochko’s professional life included positions in banking, secretary in the music department at Penn State, and many years in the Fayette County Treasurer’s Office.
Arlene had many and varying interests, including arts and crafts, flowers, painting, music and enjoyed a nice trip to a casino. She was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and also enjoyed watching hockey and basketball. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and her gentle, sweet, loving, and sincere nature.
Mrs. Sochko was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Uniontown and Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Varva; three brothers; ten sisters; and her beloved husband, William Sochko Sr.
She is survived by her two sons; Daniel Robert Sochko (Kelly Sochko,
Anthony and Courtney Shuba, Brandon and Cassie Leonard) and William Sochko Jr. (Kim and Jaxon Myers); grandchildren, Maggie Sochko Graham and William Sochko III; great-grandchildren, Theodore and Charlotte Graham; numerous nieces and nephews; and her feline sidekick, Cashew.
The family will hold a private service officiated by Fr. Kyprian Wojciechowski at the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home in Fairchance.
