Betty J. Elek, 83, of Fairchance, Pa. passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 7, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Betty was born and raised in Masontown, Pa. to Catherine (Cindric) and William Duffy.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George; brothers, William, John, Donald and Robert, and sisters, Mary Catherine and Barbara.
She is survived by daughters, Regina, Kathleen and Andrea (Rich); brothers-in-law, Steve and Martin (Betty); many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In her early years she was employed by Gateway Manufacturing Company in Masontown, Pa., before becoming a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.
Her enjoyments in life through the years included morning and evening coffee on the porch watching the wildlife in the yard, baking and decorating at the holidays, canning from the vegetable garden, Macrame, country line dancing and especially taking care of her family.
The family wishes to thank the WVU Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and staff, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care of Betty.
Betty will be greatly missed by her family and her wishes were to be placed with George in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. There will be no public viewing or service.
Betty’s private arrangement is being handled by the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home in Fairchance, Pa.
