Donald Ray Lewis “Buzz” 86 of Smithfield Pa passed away Sunday, March 12, 2018 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Farmington Pa on December 24, 1931. He was the son of late Lincoln and Blanche (Smithburger) Lewis.
Donald attended Point Marion High School in Point Marion Pa. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was a member of the North Union VFW Post 8543.
He was an owner operator over the road truck driver until his retirement and then enjoyed camping in Florida for the winter. Donald also owned and operated an oversized load escorting service know as Lewis Escort Inc.
In addition to his parents ,he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Evans) Lewis; a brother, Leo Eugene “Cannonball” Lewis and grandson Daniel Wayne Lewis.
Surviving are his son, Donald Ray Lewis Jr. and wife Beth (Townsend) of Masontown Pa.; grandchildren, Donald Ray Lewis III of Masontown Pa, Brian Eric Lewis and wife Ashlee of Smithfield, Pa, Amy Beth Lewis and Carl Lee Lewis both of Masontown Pa and great grandchildren, Cayden, Aubree and Brantley. He is also survived by his sister, Viola Frame, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His radiant smile was a friendly greeting to everyone he met.
The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C Whitmarsh Funeral Home,134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. the hour of service with Reverend David McElroy officiating.
Interment to follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. with Military Rites being accorded by North Union VFW Post 8543.
