Donald R. “Woody” Walters, Amend, Pa.

      Donald R. “Woody” Walters, 85 of Amend, Pa. passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 after a lengthy illness.

     He was born August 18, 1940 in Leckrone, German Township, Pa.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, Theodore and Isabelle Tolbert Walters and was the last surviving member of his parents’ family of 13 siblings, and his first wife, Kathryn Mesler Walters.

     Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Ruth I Wilburn Walters; six children, Judy and Paul Forsythe, Cathy and Jim Gibson, Donald April Walters, Eugene Walters, Rich and Kelly Walters, and Janet Walters; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

     He was employed all his life as a coal miner and truck driver until his retirement.

     The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 8:00 p.m. with Dale Johnson officiating. Interment will in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
