Doris Elaine (Rhodes) Tanner

DORIS ELAINE TANNER, 85, of Smithfield, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29th, 2024.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed many hobbies including reading, traveling, baking, playing cards, working puzzles and spending time with her great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Christine L. (Tanner) Gipe & husband Larry Gipe, Doreen K. Tanner & companion Walt Newcomer, and Scott A. Tanner & companion Debbie Smith.

She also leaves grandchildren Angela (Taft) Wingrove & husband William Wingrove, Rachel Stewart, and two great grandchildren; Dylan Stewart and Addison Wingrove.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edgar Tanner, son Vaughn Tanner, and grandson Ian Boothroyd.

Raised in Fairchance, PA, Doris was daughter of Edward Rhodes and Agnes (Bricker) Rhodes.

Siblings include June Rhodes Lacona (deceased), Raymond Rhodes, Patty Bittinger, Donald Rhodes (deceased), Brenda Sutton, Darrell Rhodes (deceased), and many beloved sisters in law, brothers in law and extended family.

The family will miss Doris with all of their hearts, and her memory will be cherished forever. 

No funeral or memorial services will be held, per the request of the deceased.
