Douglas Lou “Douger” Patterson, Clarksburg, Pa.
Douglas Lou “Douger” Patterson, 65 of Clarksburg, Pa. passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at home on June 18, 2024. He courageously fought several medical battles over the last few years and never wanted to be a burden to anyone along the way.
He was born December 27, 1958 in Uniontown, Pa.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Dolores (Oravets) and Thomas Patterson Sr.
Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Robin (Keibler) Patterson; children, Douglas “Andrew” Patterson, Heather Patterson and husband Tyler Jones, Elizabeth Patterson and Noah Keefer, Patrick Hoerter, Jeremy Hoerter and wife Tammy, and Jason Hoerter; seven grandchildren, Trey, Myles and Colt Jones, Mikayla and Stacie, Wyatt and Cecilia; one great grandson, Boston; siblings, Dan Patterson Sr., Tom Patterson Jr. and wife Louann, Steve Patterson and wife Lisa, Mark Patterson Sr. and wife Diane, his twin, David “Gus” Patterson Sr. and Susan, Mike Patterson and wife Joy, Ted Patterson, and Lisa Beckman; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Margaret Miller; father-in-law, Richard and Sharlie Keibler; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He was a man who loved the simple things in life. He was an avid outdoors man, loved spending time with his family and being home, and was a serial jokester who admired “the men” (the 3 Stooges). He gave the best advice and could debate on almost any topic (he of course was always right). His kids often referred to him as “Doug-stradamus” because of his depth of knowledge on so many topics and his predictions in politics. He was someone that was very patient and observant too. He gave great insight and could always see a better option. He wanted nothing more than his kids to succeed in all aspects of life and was proud of all of them.
He really enjoyed watching his hummingbird feeders in the summer and watching his grandsons run through his yard. They made him smile and laugh and he fought hard for them during his health battles.
He was an excellent cook, loved buying local meats and veggies. He was especially proud of his daughter’s garden and his upcoming grapevines. He was talented on many levels including landscaping, heavy machinery, woodworking, just to name a few.
He will be missed on so many levels by so many people. Everyone that knew him will have a special place for him in their hearts forever. They just don’t make them like him anymore. A tireless hard worker, devout Republican, practical joker, gentle giant. He was truly one of a kind (even though he was a twin).
The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Hickle officiating.
Interment will follow in Jacob’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
