Dr. Kamal Matta Behnam, Bruceton Mills, West Virginia

Dr. Kamal Matta Behnam, 93, passed away at home with his family by his side and went to be with his Lord Jesus on July 19, 2026. He was born on February 6, 1933 in Cairo, Egypt and immigrated to the United States in 1958. A beloved doctor who worked in Morgantown WV for 50 years, he delivered thousands of babies both at WVU and Mon General hospitals.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gisela, and his children, Mark, Nicole and Tim, and son in-law James Orlando and daughter in-law Christiana Behnam, as well as nephew Matthew Behnam and niece Suzanne Bergman, and several other nieces and nephews in Germany and Egypt.

He loved to read, to quote poetry, to share his faith, and to serve others tirelessly. To the end, Dr. Behnam loved his Lord Jesus, singing His praises and telling everyone about His goodness and enduring mercy. And he lived that way, using his work and practice to do quiet acts of deep generosity, never compromising his integrity, always gentle and kind with all whom he met. We are grateful for what he gave us and taught us in life and will miss him very much.
