Frank Phillip “Phil” Student, Uniontown, Pa.
Frank Phillip "Phil" Student of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away on August 17, 2025 at the age of 67. Phil was born in Uniontown on November 20, 1957 to Clema "Bonnie" Student and Frank Paul Student. He graduated from Fairchance-Georges High School in 1975.
Phil served as a Combat Engineer in the Army Reserves for 23 years, retiring as a 1st Sergeant. He began his life's work of providing reliable hydroelectric power to the Allegheny Region at the Hatfield Power Plant. After many years of service, Phil retired from the Lake Lynn Power Plant as a Chief Operator. Phil was an avid hunter, fisherman, and history buff.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Student and Frank Student. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Student, and children, Craig Student, Abby Bryan, Amelia Mostaffa, and Carrie Rotolo. Phil is also survived by his siblings, Paula Hunyady, John Hunyady (in-law), and James Bryner (half). Finally, he is survived by his nephew, Steven Hunyady, and four grandchildren: Maverick Bryan; Kennedy Crossland; Hannah Crossland; and Elise McLuckie.
Phil's family will honor his memory by hosting a viewing at Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on August 24, 2025. The viewing will take place in two sessions, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The ceremony and final prayer celebrating Phil's life will occur on August 25, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home. Prayers of Transfer at 9:30 a.m.
A funeral mass will be held in Phil's honor at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa. at 10:00 a.m. on August 25, 2025. He will subsequently be interred at the Mountain View Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. with Military Rites being accorded by General Marshall Amvets Post 103 Honor Guard.

Family, friends, and guests are invited to gather at the Fairchance Fire Hall for his wake from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. that day.
