Fred Andrew Chipps, Smithfield, Pa.
Fred Andrew Chipps, 81 of Smithfield, Pa. died at home after a long illness on December 20, 2024.
He was born in Uniontown, Pa. to Fred and Grace Chipps on September 26, 1943.
Fred graduated from Georges Township High School Class of 1961 and from California University Class of 1968.
He worked since he was 8 years old fixing the furnace at the school, later worked on the highway and Manos Theatres as a PR Director.
Fred taught school for 33 years in the Connellsville Area School District, retired in 2001 to work at Smithfield State Bank Uniontown Office as Executive Director and later worked at Dean Whitmarsh Funeral Home until 2016.
During his life, he was a member of: Smithfield Rotary, two times as President; Gideons of Fayette County, President for 3 years; taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Fairchance and was a Deacon for many years; East End Community Center Board; State Theatre Board; Fayette Chamber of Commerce; Director of Smithfield/Centra Bank and a PSEA member.
Fred has been a member of First Baptist Church in Fairchance since 1982 and recently attending Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Smithfield, Pa.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Clark and Ollie Chipps and Sam and Ola Miller and his parents, Fred and Grace Chipps.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Beverly Berlinsky Chipps; son, Fred William Chipps and loving dog Kody.
Fred was the best Father and Husband, Son and Friend, he lived a Christian Life and led many people to Christ.
The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, December 27, 2024 until 10:00 a.m. the hour of service with Pastor Darrell Edgar officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon Memorial Bibles, Fayette County Gideons, P.O. Box 465, Hopwood, Pa. 15445.
Fred will be remembered for his kindness, passion, and unyielding spirit, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
