Hazel Ruth (Lewis) Abraham

Hazel Ruth Lewis Abraham, age 98 of Fairchance, Pa. went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2018. 

Born June 29th, 1920, she was the eldest of 6 children. When she was young, she worked for Union Supply Company and Anchor Hocking. She married Willard "Wib" Abraham in 1941 and together they raised 2 children.

She was an active member of White Rock and Brownfield United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she held various positions within the church, including the Kitchen Band and United Methodist Women. Having been a former Girl Scout leader, she also volunteered her time at Uniontown Hospital. In her later years she enjoyed card club with her many friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband of 50 years, Wib, 3 brothers Marshall and wife, Anna Mary, James, Tom and wife Joanne and sister Eleanor and husband, Edgar Miller.

Hazel is survived by her children Susan Abraham Hugh and husband LaMonte, and James Abraham and wife Becky, her youngest brother, Jack and wife Carol and two sisters in law, June Davis Lewis and Mary Dunham Abraham. She has 7 grandchildren; Wade Hugh and wife Deborah, Amy Abraham Cummings and husband David, Wesley Hugh and wife Kathleen, Tim Abraham and wife Jan, Wendy Hugh Ankrom and husband Garry, Ward Hugh and wife Stephanie and Eric Myers and wife Shelby. She has 19 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street,  Fairchance, PA on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. and the Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Diane Olson officiating.

Interment will be at Mt Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Donations be made in her memory to Brownfield United Methodist Church, 1427 Brownfield Road, Brownfield, PA 15416.
