James “Jim” C. Wilson III, 75, of Ohiopyle, passed away on May 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and close family.
Born on January 19, 1951, Jim lived a life rooted in family, friendship, and hard work. He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. Wilson II and Louise Wilson.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Sherri Wilson, whose love story began through their shared connection at Wilderness Voyagers. Together they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, concerts, trips on their campers, love for their family and cherished friendships at Hickory Hollow Campground.
He is also survived by his loving children: Tiffany Vadella-Griffith and her husband Dustin; William “Billy” Wilson; stepson Joshua Koss and his wife Anne-Marie; and stepdaughter Tisherra Diec and her husband Kenny. Jim was a proud grandfather to Avianna Griffith, Elijah Koss, Arianna Koss, Isaac Koss, and Sloan Diec, all of whom brought him immense joy. He is additionally survived by his siblings, Kathy Miller (Roger), Dana Gunsallus (“Spike”), and Jeff Wilson (Londa).
Jim dedicated many years of his life to education as a shop teacher at McGuffey High School, where he impacted countless students with his patience, skill, and guidance. During his summers away from the classroom, he worked at Wilderness Voyagers, where he further developed his love for the outdoors and formed lifelong friendships that became an important part of his life.
In retirement, Jim found happiness in the simple pleasures — relaxing at the camper with Sherri, spending time with his beloved puppy Chanel, and watching his grandchildren grow. He will be remembered for his kind heart, love for music, quick sense of humor, and the steady presence he offered to everyone around him.
Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew, loved him, and through the lives of those he helped through his kindness including those recipients of his organ donation.
