John Katalinic Obituary

John Leonard Katalinic, 65, of Fairchance, died Friday, October 25, 2019, after a lengthy illness.  Born in Uniontown on May 14, 1954, Johnny was the son of Louise (Perelli) Katalinic of Fairchance, and the late John Joseph Katalinic.

A 1973 graduate of Fairchance-Georges High School, he was a custodian for the Albert Gallatin School District, retiring from the A.L. Wilson Elementary School in 2009 after 35 years employment.  An avid sports fan, Johnny was a loyal supporter of the Fairchance-Georges Runners/Tri-Valley Griffins/Albert Gallatin Colonials, the Uniontown Red Raiders, Pitt and WVU, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.  He had a great memory for sports trivia, politics and family milestones, and will be lovingly remembered for his kind nature and good heart.

He was a member of the Fairchance Sons of Italy, Lodge #497, social member of the AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1275.

He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents, Leonard and Josephine Perelli and Daniel and Mary Katalinic.

Surviving, in addition to his loving mother with whom he made his home, is his devoted sister, Karen Inks and husband Ron of Fairchance; two nieces of whom he was most proud, Mary Inks Budinsky and her husband Michael, and Sara Inks and her boyfriend Michael Romeo.  Also surviving is a great-niece who was the apple of his eye and most dearly loved, Nora Catherine Budinsky

Friends will be received in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, Fairchance, on Monday from 2 – 4 and 6 -8 PM., where a prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 AM in SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Fairchance.  Interment follows in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance.
