John Thomas Lindsey Jr., Fairchance, Pa.
John Thomas Lindsey Jr. “Tom”, age 87 of Fairchance, Pa., formerly of Bowie, MD, passed away at WVU Uniontown Hospital with his loving daughters by his side on Tuesday August 6, 2024.
He was born March 5, 1937 to the late John T. Lindsey, Sr and Helen (Hopson) Lindsey of Durham, NC.
Tom attended the Morganton School for the Deaf of North Carolina, then went on to Gallaudet University in Washington D.C.
His life journey was full of adventures whether surfing in Hawaii or skiing in Colorado, he lived life to the fullest.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Julia Lough and Peggy (Mark) Springsteen; his grandchildren, Daniel (Celena) Lough, Lindsey Lough, Seth Springsteen and Reese Springsteen; great granddaughters, Gia and Dani Lough; sister-in-law, Sue Lindsey, and nieces and nephews of NC and FL. Also survived by his companion of many years, Louise Liebman and her children, Duane (Tina) Canter, Roxanne Canter and Andrew Canter, who were like his own; plus 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren all of Maryland.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his younger brother, Sidney Gerald Lindsey.
He loved Duke and North Carolina Sports with football and basketball his favorite. He made friends everywhere he went within the hearing and deaf communities. Always had a smile on his face.
The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
