Joseph P. Skala, Uniontown, Pa.

     Joseph P. Skala, 88 of Uniontown, Pa. passed away on Monday, June 09, 2026, with his loving family and friends by his side.

     Joseph was born January 23, 1938. Preceding him in death were his parents, Floyd E. Skala and Mary K. Checkle Skala; sisters, Dorothy Martoncik, Pauline Skala, Josepine McCollum; brothers, Floyd P. Skala, Andrew J. Skala and his wife Mary Ann Skala.

     Surviving are his children, daughter, Belinda Joyce of the state of California and son, Gregory J. Skala of Warren, Ohio; his sister, Susan M. Ozanich, whom he resided with; nieces, Maria Stamates and husband Vincent, Bernadette Germock and husband Mark, and close friend and caregiver, Lisa Jurkowski and family.

     Joe attended Footedale Elementary. He graduated from German Township High School in 1956 where he participated in Varsity wrestling for 4 years. He moved to Ohio for work. He worked at Ohio Fast Freight Company for 10 years. He was a general manager for SemiServ for 25 years. He was a board member and property manager at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Youngstown, Ohio for 25 years. He was a member of VFW Post 3767 Hubbard, Ohio.

     Funeral arrangements will be handled by Dean Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

     Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa. near his family.
