Kathy Jane (Christopher) Moore, 68 of Fairchance, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Sunday September 15, 2024. A strong and loving wife, mother, and grandma born on April 17, 1956, Kathy’s courage, grace, and family spirit guided her to the finish line of her journey; providing comfort all the while to those who love her.
Awaiting her reunion are her parents, Ray and Olive (Fordyce) Christopher; brother, William ‘Bill’ Christopher; as well as her sister and lifelong best friend, Fonda (Christopher) Davis.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 41 years of marriage, Scott Allan Moore; sons, Christopher (Lindsey) Moore and Cory (Jacklyn) Moore; grandchildren, Bennett, Braden, Mia, Trent, and Kaitlyn Moore; brother, Bradley Christopher; sister-in-law, Janna Christopher; brother-in-law, William ‘Bill’ Davis; sister-in-law, Lori (Chuck) Kaylor; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Debbie Moore; sister-in-law, Diana Moore; niece/caregiver Gidget (Brent) Hodgson; nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Kathy began her employment at the Rockwell International plant in Uniontown, where her love story with Scott began. With a young family and job uncertainties, Kathy had to pivot her career path and went back to school as a working-class mother in her 30’s. She would spend the next 30+ years as a dedicated health care employee in many roles for WVU Medicine prior to her well-deserved retirement in 2022. This same team she worked alongside to provide excellent health care for all those years returned the favor to support her care needs to the very end, Thank You.
Kathy’s legacy is rooted in her deep love of family and the strength and sacrifice she proudly maintained as a loving wife and mother. Her marriage with Scott was the type of partnership you strive for with respect and love. She helped create a tight knit support structure with the benefit that mere miles are all that separate a hug or a meal. Her favorite place to be, was simply wherever her family was.
This final chapter proved to be a time where her strength was put to the test; a pandemic, the loss of siblings, retirement, and the literal fight for her life. Kathy never wavered; her troubles kept in balance by the joy she had in being Grandma, with endless love and pride for her 5 grandbabies.
Kathy’s strength came with a lighter side as well, a sense of humor and personality as big as her heart. Story-telling that couldn’t be finished through her own laughter, a playful demeanor that tickles a 6-year-olds soul. The joy she could create made for memories and friendship that last a lifetime.
In place of a traditional viewing and to honor her wishes or cremation, a celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, PA.
