Leo Edward Kaputa, Haydentown, Pa.
Leo Edward Kaputa, of Haydentown, Pa. passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Leo was born August 3, 1954, son of the late Joseph and Kathleen Walsh Kaputa of Fairchance, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patty McKenzie and son, Christopher Kaputa.
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Katherine “Katie” Kaputa; children, Ralph Workman of Florida, Aimee Bosley of Uniontown, Scott Workman of Florida and Adam Kaputa of Point Marion; brother, Joseph Kaputa of Colorado; sisters, Margaret Kaputa of Uniontown, Kathleen Swaney of Fairchance and Theresa Miller of West Virginia; brothers-in-law, Daniel Costello of Uniontown, Timothy Petchasko of Fairchance and Millard “Skipp” Groover of Point Marion; sisters-in-law, Sue Costello of Haydentown, Robin Costello of Uniontown and Wilma Groover of Point Marion; beloved grandchildren, Sonia Machedo of Kentucky, Silvia Santo of Kansas, Leo Workman of Uniontown, Cassia Kaputa of Haydentown, Aiden Workman of Florida and Seth Kaputa of Smithfield and many nieces and nephews.
Leo owned and operated Aardwolf Topsoil and Excavating for 30 years until his retirement in 2009 due to illness. For many years Leo recited the Gettysburg Address on Memorial Day at local cemeteries. He loved his community and all the people he had the pleasure of meeting. Leo said he was blessed with a wonderful life.
Leo’s cherished friends are Reed Whoolery of Smithfield, Scott Whoolery of Fairchance, Tom Sholtis of Uniontown, Nate Chuster of Haydentown and Miles Miller of Pittsburgh. Special thanks to Jason Rahm who helped Leo this past year.
Very special thanks to Doctor John Chalfant and his staff in Uniontown and special thanks to Leo’s nurse Aimee who consulted with him on the phone for many years.
