Mary Evelyn Marano

Mary Evelyn Marano, 97, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, joining her loving husband, Sam, in eternity.

Born October 21, 1926, she is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Muzika along with several brothers and sisters. Mary was the last surviving member of the Muzika family. Her eldest son, Michael, is also deceased.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Michele, and three sons, Sam (wife, Alice), Anthony (wife, Kathy), Patsy; six grandchildren Gina, MaryAnn, Alyssa, Nicholas, Megan, Shauna; four great grandchildren Renley, Ryker, Ava, Mia.

Mary was a woman of remarkable strength and unconditional love who treasured her family. She was a longtime member of the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church where she spent many active years in the church choir and as a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers volunteering at spaghetti dinners and various church events.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and supportive caregivers/nurses/doctors that cared for Mary so well over the years.

Friends will be received at the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Saturday from 2 – 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m. Prayers of Transfer will take place on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.

The Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
