Norma Husk Obituary

Norma Grace Husk, Uniontown, Pa.

Norma Grace Husk, wife of the Rev. Doctor Arnold G. Husk, a retired elder in the West Virginia United Methodist Annual Conference, died on April 22, 2024. She was 80 years old. A daughter of the Rev. H. Melvin and Ednah J. Frost Shultz, she was born in Connellsville, Pa. on February 6, 1944. She married Rev. Husk on August 6, 1966.

She graduated from Georgetown High School, Georgetown, Delaware in 1962. After living there with her parents while her father completed seminary in Washington, D.C. She attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and graduated in 1966. She also met her husband there and they spent 40 years in active ministry in West Virginia. Then after Arnold’s retirement in 2003, they moved to Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to be closer to her parents who were living there.

Norma had a special love of music and she played the piano and organ and always sang in the choir wherever they served. She also participated in musical activities in the community as well. After retirement she sang with the Greater Uniontown Chorale for many years. She also used her teaching talents to teach Sunday School, VBS, and give children’s sermons. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Women and had held offices on the local, district, and conference levels. She also enjoyed her membership in the Hopwood Garden Club and served as secretary. She also had many friends in the Club.

In addition to her duties as a minister’s wife and mother of Lorri and Kevin, Norma did substitute teaching in the various counties in West Virginia where they were serving. In 1982 she was hired to teach special education and continued to teach for 21 years in West Virginia. She also became a certified school librarian and worked for several years in the field. Norma was a gracious, loving, and faithful servant of the Lord. She enjoyed reading, cooking, writing letters to several friends and interacting with two pet cats. Along with Arnold, she loved her daughter Lorri and her son Kevin, daughter-in-law Amy and grandchildren, Aidan, Gavin, and Leah.
