Pearl Louise “Ginger” (Walters) Moats – proud mother and wife, cherished friend, and avid bird watcher – led her life with love and light and it is with profound sadness we share her passing on January 7, 2025 at the age of 90 after a long battle with dementia.
Pearl (resident of Smithfield PA) leaves behind her loving family: her husband Clarence with whom she shared 73 years of marriage, her children Clarence (Melinda) Moats and Barbara Long and her brother Robert Walters.
In death, she joins her parents Cleveland and Evelyn “Eva” (Minerd) Walters of Bowood (Nicholson Township) PA; and her four brothers James Lowller, William Walters, Gerald Walters and Hershel Walters and her infant daughter Sharon.
Through she suffered from the effects of her condition, Pearl’s resilience was nothing of inspiring. She lived her life with grace and courage, always placing the needs of her family and friends above her own struggles.
Pearl’s legacy of love, faith, and unwavering commitment to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting imprint on all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord and followed Him in Baptism at the First Baptist Church in Fairchance in 1956.
The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. the hour of service with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant View I.O.O. F. Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
The family would like to express their appreciation to an amazing team of individuals who provided comfort and aid at a very difficult time - OSPTA Hospice and to Caring Mission for their kindness.
