Raymond Brazill Sr. Obituary

Raymond L. Brazill Sr. of Pittsburgh Pa. passed away on April 28, 2022.

He was preceded by his father Robert, and mother Mary(Williams).

He is survived by his brothers Robert and wife Stephanie, and Phillip and wife Robin, his sisters Paula and husband Robert, Evelyn, and Mary, along with sons Raymond and wife Desiree' and Chad and wife Erin, his Grandsons Peyton (Ladd), Ethan, and Cyllian, along with many nieces and nephews, and some grandpaws.

Ray was a graduate of North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. He was drafted and served in the United States Army serving in both Vietnam and Korea, he was awarded the Purple Heart. After service he went to work for PPG in Greensburg Pa, he retired with over 35 years of service to the company. Ray also completed his dream of becoming and aircraft mechanic, he attended and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute Of Aeronautics, and the added 6 month rotary wing school, he graduated with honors from P.I.A. During the tragedy of 9/11 he was contacted as a possible alternate to help secure and recover debris from the Shanksville crash site.

Ray had a great many passions throughout his life, growing up on the north side of Pittsburgh he became a huge music lover, everything from doo-wop, to rhythm and blues, jazz, rock, and classical. He seemed to love it all! He also loved cars and mechanics, he was a street racer from time to time, loved the drag strip, and car shows. He was knowledgeable and worked on many type of vehicles for friends and family alike.  He was passionate about space and aircraft, he loved airshows and planes, it seems he could I.D. them all. He loved to talk science and space, it was a favorite conversation for him! He also enjoyed discussing religion and theology, probably a hold over from catholic school, again he was well versed and open to the subject, however. He was an avid dancer also, he was know to cut a rug as if he was Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing with his kids, going to the park, lying out under the sky and star gazing. Ray had a sense of adventure, he loved just getting in the car and going where the road takes you, lets see where this trail goes! He shared his adventures with his children, grandchildren, and anyone who would dare come along...it was always an adventure, and it was always fun.

Ray will be sadly missed, he was greatly loved.
