Rhea L. (Lowden) Howell, 87 of Collier, Pa.
It is with great sadness that the Family of Rhea L. (Lowden) Howell announces her passing on July 02, 2025. Rhea passed peacefully at her home in Collier, Pa. at the age of 87. She was the daughter of the late James and Olive “Kate” Lowden.
To know her was to love her!
Rhea married Arthur “Tubby” Howell and together they raised five children. She was a strong woman who touched the lives of many with her love and kindness. Rhea loved life and she loved her big extended family. She had a way of making everybody feel special and welcome. Rhea loved children. It brought her great joy spending time with the little ones. Be it reading a story, doing a craft or just rocking a child to sleep. She was a great cook and could turn anything into a feast. Nothing brought her more pleasure than having family and friends gather at her home for Holidays, Steeler games or Spaghetti Sundays. Rhea never hesitated to lend a helping hand to family, friends or a total stranger. She had a lot of faith in God and lived a life that reflected that. Our lives have been blessed by her presence and her light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
Rhea was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Arthur “Tubby” Howell; son, Arthur “Gig” Howell; daughter, Cindy Howe; son-in-law, Dave Howe; brother, James “Jimbo” Lowden; sisters, Beatrice Kramer and Dixie Goble.
Rhea is survived by her significant other, James Sherman Hall, who has brought much love and happiness into her life; son, Timothy “Fuzzy” Howell and wife Brenda; daughters, Angela Renee Wheeler, and Connie Donaldson and husband Brian; and as she always called him her #1 Son, Eugene Handschumaker; sister, Sue Sullivan; 12 grandchildren, Jodi (Ray) Lynn, Brian (Kelly) Donaldson, Jason (Cassie) Detrick, Justin Detrick, Maranda (Billy) Detrick, Andy (Ashley) Howell, Corina (Will) Cooper, Lee (Amy) Donaldson, Michael (Nicole) Sroka, Paul (Danielle) Howell, Angela (Mike) Barbabella, and Sarah (Joe) Howell; 28 great grandchildren and 2 on the way. She is also survived by a very special niece and nephew, Stacey (Kenny) Jordan and Dusty Rhodes and their families.
Rhea’s family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Mom’s caregiver, Jennah Rankin for all of the great loving care that she provided during Mom’s illness. Also to the Hall family for all of their support and love.
