Robert J. Umble

Robert Joseph Umble, Smithfield, Pa.

     Robert Joseph Umble, 89 of Smithfield, Pa. passed away at the home of his son on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

     He was born April 12, 1929 in Out Crop, Springhill Township, Pa. the son of Wilbert Umble and Evanel King Umble.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 55 years, Sarah M. O”Brien Umble; sisters, Joanna Doty and Kathryn Jenkins and brother, Gary Umble.

     Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Joseph Umble Jr. and Debbie Umble, Morgantown, W.Va.; granddaughter, Michelle Umble, Morgantown, W.Va.; brothers, Orville Umble, Smithfield, Pa. and James “Jay” Umble, Buckhannon, W.Va. and several nieces and nephews.

     Robert was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Army.

     He was retired from the National Park Service, last serving at Fort Necessity and Friendship Hill.

     He was a member of the Uniontown Church of Christ.

     His carpenter tools and fishing poles have been put to rest after a long enjoyable life, of also attending gun and cash bashes and the Sagebrush Roundup.

     He also enjoyed helping his only granddaughter with her own family business, Blue and Gold Graphics.

     The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 10 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Carl Desmartin officiating.

     Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. with Military Rites being accorded by General Marshall Amvets Post 103.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Activet, 64 Ghuste Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508.
