Ronald J. Metz, Smithfield, Pa.

     Ronald J. Metz, 79 of Smithfield, Pa. passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

     He was born December 16, 1939 in Latrobe, Pa.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph R. Metz and Mary “Mitz” (Gerchman) Metz and sister, Janet Kroeger.

     Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sara Dell (Decker) Metz; son, Ronald Mark Metz and wife Natalie; his grandson who he adored, Justin Mark Metz; sister, Geraldine M. Blaney; very close sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Billie and Dan Andria and nieces and nephews.

     He was a graduate of Georges Township High School Class of 1957 and WVU in Mechanical Engineering.

     Ron was employed for many years with Steel Scaffolding as a Production Manager and United Defense as a Plant Manager until his retirement.

     Ron was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Church in Uniontown, a member of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department for many years, an Eagle Scout, assistant Scout Master and Advancement Committee for Eagle Scouts in the Old Trail District, a member of Smithfield Boro Council and a member of the Round Table at Amy Lynn’s.

     The family will greet friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Saturday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. then on Monday, April 22, 2019 until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be held. The Funeral Mass follows at 10:00 a.m. in St. Therese de Lisieux Church, 61 Mill Street, Uniontown, Pa. Interment follows in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
