Ronald A. Smith, Fairchance, Pa.
Ronald A. Smith, 77 of Fairchance, Pa. passed away at the Veterans’ Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Monday, April 14, 2025 with his loving family by his side.
He was born October 16, 1947 in Mount Pleasant, Pa. the son of Harrison and the late Eleanor Smith.
He was a Sales Rep for numerous Banking institutions for many years before being called to Pastor at the Masontown Mennonite Church where he served for many years before retiring. He was a Vietnam War Veteran Serving in the United States Army. In his leisure time he loved spending time with his family and reading or doing one of his wordsearch puzzles.
In addition to his dad and stepmom, Virginia Smith, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irela Bowers Smith; children, Krissy Rugg of Uniontown, Pa. and Jonathan (Karen) Smith of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Megan (Timmy) Miller, Dalton Rugg, Ryleigh Smith, Gaige Smith, Makenzie Rugg and Corbin (Hailey) Kovach; great grandchildren, Grayson, Maverick and Carter; brother, Tom (Melanie) Smith, Parsons, Kansas; several nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
Ronald was preceded in death his sister Kathy Dessenberger and his sister in law Jerrie B Smith.
The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the Masontown Mennonite Church, 295 Mennonite Church Road, Masontown, Pa. from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rich McIntyre officiating. Military Rites will follow by General Marshall Amvets Post 103 Honor Guard.
