Roy Lee “Pete” Myers, 80, of Uniontown, PA, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, July 12, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Roy was born on November 14, 1944, in Smithfield, PA, the son of the late William H. and Dorothy A. Myers. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War, completing two tours of duty. For his bravery and dedication, he was awarded the Purple Heart, along with several other medals in recognition of his service.
A lifelong learner, Roy was an avid reader. He enjoyed golfing and looked forward to the spring and summer months, which gave him the opportunity to hike in the woods, hunt for mushrooms, and tend to his beloved garden. He loved relaxing on his front porch, listening to the Pittsburgh Pirates on the radio, and in the fall, you could always find him watching college football from his favorite chair in the living room.
Roy was especially proud of his three grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. He frequently asked about their lives and found great joy in hearing about their adventures and accomplishments.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Dolores M. Myers (née Uhric); two sons, Sean W. Myers of Uniontown, PA, and Eric J. Myers and wife Nila, also of Uniontown; and one daughter, Jennifer L. Anderson and husband Daniel of Smithfield, PA.
Roy was the beloved grandfather—“Pappy”—of Abagail L. Hudock of Swissvale, PA; Nicholas A. Hudock of Chalk Hill, PA; and Eva M. Anderson of Smithfield, PA.
In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his cherished siblings: Herbert J. Myers and wife Carol of Fairchance, PA; William R. Myers and wife Mary of Uniontown, PA; Judith R. McKee and husband Robert of Vanderbilt, PA; and Joyce K. Micoli and husband Joseph of Smithfield, PA. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he held dear.
The family will receive friends and family in the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Wednesday, July 30 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. the hour of service with Pastor Bryan Kelley officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodbridge Cemetery, 865 Gans-Woodbridge Road, Smithfield, Pa. with Military Rites being accorded by General Marshall Amvets Post 103 Honor Guard.
