Samantha J. "Sammie Jo" McCusker

Samantha J. (Sammie Jo) McCusker, 25, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at  Montefiore Hospital. She was born October 13, 1993, to Tara McCusker (Marshall) and the late Scott Noble. She is survived by her younger brother, Nathaniel “Nate Dog” McCusker whom she loved dearly, her step-father David McCusker, her grandparents Floyd and Patricia Cumberland of McClellandtown,  Dennis Marshall of Uniontown, Lawrence “Jake” and Janet McCusker of Richeyville, her aunts Tina Marshall (Kellie Simon), and Holly Landman (James), Jennifer Pinkey, Jill Mickoloff (Paul)  and her cousins, Kali and James Landman III, Spencer Jenkins, Ryan, Brendan and Alayna Mickoloff.    

Samantha is preceded in death by her grandmother Joyce E Marshall.

Sammie graduated from Albert Gallatin High School in 2012 where she played basketball, ran track and was the prom queen.  She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from California University in Business and Finance.  Sammie enjoyed working in the food service industry and was proud of her customer service and management skills.

In her free time Sammie enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, and kayaking.  She had a dry, sarcastic sense of humor which she shared with her brother as well as their love of video games, Harry Potter and Sponge Bob. Up until her passing, Sammie had her family and medical staff laughing at her jokes and storytelling. Sammie also enjoyed long walks on the beach looking for sand dollars.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 W Church St, Fairchance, PA 15436.  The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the family and her brother Nate will be selecting the charity.
